Exciting news for avid travelers!

Scoot, the budget airline arm of Singapore Airlines, has announced the launch of non-stop flights to two stunning destinations: Vienna, Austria, and Iloilo City in the Philippines. This new service is set to commence operations on June 3 for Vienna and April 14 for Iloilo City, adding great flexibility for those looking to explore these vibrant locales.

Direct Access to the “City of Music”

Vienna, often dubbed the “City of Music” due to its rich history with legendary composers like Beethoven, Brahms, and Mozart, will be connected to Singapore through three weekly flights. This route marks Scoot’s longest non-stop journey, clocking in at a remarkable 13 hours and 10 minutes, aboard the state-of-the-art Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, which boasts a capacity of 329 passengers across two comfortable cabin classes.

Interestingly, this marks the return of non-stop flights from Singapore to Vienna, as Singapore Airlines previously operated this route from the 1980s until the late 1990s. Travel enthusiasts can expect to experience Vienna’s enchanting architecture, world-renowned operas, and charming cafés, without the hassle of layovers.

Iloilo City: A Hidden Gem in the Philippines

For those wishing to explore Southeast Asia, Scoot will also launch flights to Iloilo City, known for its rich culture, delicious cuisine, and warm hospitality. Initially offering two weekly flights, this service will ramp up to four times a week starting June, using the 112-seat Embraer E190-E2 aircraft. With ticket prices starting as low as $129 for a one-way economy class ticket, travelers have an affordable option to delve into the beauty of the Philippines.

Book Your Tickets Now!

Scoot has made booking incredibly easy, with tickets available from January 16 via their website and mobile app. Prices for one-way tickets to Vienna start at approximately $309, while ScootPlus fares (which include additional perks) will be available from $659.

Leslie Thng, Scoot's CEO, expressed enthusiasm over being the exclusive airline offering direct flights between Singapore and Vienna. “This is an exciting opportunity for travelers to experience both European charm and Southeast Asian beauty all in one journey,” he stated.

Travelers Share Their Excitement

Local student Jasmine Grace Towndrow, who has previously journeyed to Vienna, shared her excitement about the new non-stop service, highlighting the common stress associated with layovers. “Direct options are so refreshing! Nobody wants to deal with lengthy transfers,” she said, recalling her own challenging 12-hour layover on a prior trip.

However, some travelers express caution when it comes to long-haul flights with low-cost carriers. Jasmine noted her apprehensions about Scoot’s budget model for longer routes, asking, “Will it be comfortable enough for such a long flight?”

Network Adjustments and Passenger Growth

In addition to the new routes, Scoot revealed plans to suspend services to Berlin and Jinan to better align its operations with demand. This strategic decision comes amid a significant boost in passenger traffic, with Scoot and Singapore Airlines Group recording a whopping 3.6 million passengers in December 2024 alone, marking a substantial increase from the previous year.

With an expanding reach and exciting new destinations, Scoot is clearly carving a niche in Asia-Pacific travel, offering affordable and convenient options for globetrotters eager to explore Europe and the Philippines alike. Book your tickets now and prepare for an unforgettable journey!
