The Wait is Almost Over!
In an electrifying announcement, Ricoh has revealed that its highly anticipated GR IV camera will hit the market this fall! Aimed squarely at street photographers, this new model sticks closely to the beloved design of its predecessor, the GR III.
Familiar Design with Key Upgrades
Just like the GR III from 2018, the GR IV sports a sleek, compact body, featuring the same 28mm-equivalent f/2.8 lens. It relies on a rear LCD for composing shots, omitting any viewfinder, ensuring its portability remains a selling point.
The exterior is nearly identical to its predecessor, with minor tweaks like a redesigned thumb wheel for adjustments. This might just make navigating settings smoother—something fans have eagerly awaited!
Enhanced Specs and Features
The GR IV boasts some impressive updates! It retains the built-in ND filter but increases its APS-C sensor resolution from 24 to 26 megapixels. The camera will also feature a higher ISO range, peaking at a staggering 204,800, making it a great choice for low-light shooting.
Additionally, it includes five-axis stabilization, improving image quality during handheld shooting. The lens has been redesigned with a new seven-element structure to enhance performance, and users can expect advanced autofocusing capabilities with face and eye detection!
Built-in Storage Updates
One standout feature is the 53GB of onboard storage, a significant increase from the GR III’s 2GB. However, though users will now utilize microSD cards instead of standard ones, this increased storage could greatly benefit those on the go.
What’s Next for Ricoh?
While pricing details remain under wraps, Ricoh confirms that the GR IV is set to launch in autumn 2025. An exciting variant featuring a Highlight Diffusion Filter is expected to follow later. As the GR III is slated for discontinuation in July, fans are eager for the new release.
Ricoh's GR cameras have become a hit among street photographers due to their compact size and competitive pricing against brands like Fujifilm and Leica. With the GR IV on the horizon, fans are buzzing with excitement. It surely is the most awaited camera of 2025!
