In a dazzling display of skill and dominance, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) kicked off their Champions League title defense with a resounding 4-0 victory against Atalanta at the iconic Parc des Princes.

Captain Marquinhos and rising star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia propelled PSG to a comfortable 2-0 lead by halftime. The goals kept coming as Nuno Mendes found the net early in the second half, solidifying PSG’s control, while Gonçalo Ramos capped the scoring during stoppage time.

Despite Bradley Barcola’s initial penalty being saved, PSG’s relentless pressure saw them missing several opportunities, notably without the influence of injured stars Ousmane Dembélé and Désiré Doué.

Fresh off their historic 5-0 victory against Inter Milan last May, which earned them their first European championship, PSG currently leads Ligue 1 with four consecutive wins.

The match got off to a blistering start as Barcola delivered a perfect pass to Fabián Ruiz, who set up Marquinhos for the opening goal just three minutes in. PSG looked poised to extend their lead within the first ten minutes; however, Nuno Mendes squandered a clear chance, and Atalanta's goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi made a spectacular save to deny Barcola.

Carnesecchi showcased his talent further by diving to tip Achraf Hakimi’s low shot onto the post, but the pressure eventually paid off. Kvaratskhelia's stunning strike from the right flank into the top corner before halftime put PSG firmly in charge.

Although PSG missed a golden opportunity to make it 3-0 after Barcola's penalty was thwarted—following a foul on Marquinhos by Atalanta's Yunus Musah—the team regrouped and found their rhythm again.

Six minutes into the second half, Nuno Mendes capitalized on a perfectly timed pass from Barcola, striking a low shot into the bottom corner from a tight angle.

In the dying moments of the match, Ramos showcased his sharp instincts, seizing upon a slack back-pass to score the fourth goal with a precise low finish, sealing the deal for PSG.

As the Champions League season unfolds, PSG's emphatic performance sets a high bar for their competitors, proving once again they are a formidable force in European football.
