Can You Get Your Hands on a Nintendo Switch 2 at Launch?

Mark your calendars, gamers! Doug Bowser, the head honcho of Nintendo of America, has reassured fans that the much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 will be readily available in the U.S. when it launches in 2025. Bowser claims Nintendo is fully prepared to meet an expected surge in demand throughout the holiday season.

Massive Production Plans!

In a recent statement, Bowser revealed, "Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa announced plans for 15 million units of the Switch 2 and 4.5 million units of the original Switch this fiscal year." This ambitious forecast aims to replicate the stellar performance of the original Switch during its first 10 months on the market.

Bowser added, "We believe our production and supply chains will allow us to cater to consumer demand effectively. There's been an overwhelmingly positive reaction so far, and our preorders reflect that excitement. We’re committed to ensuring a steady supply of consoles throughout the upcoming holidays."

Preorder Challenges!

While the excitement is palpable, getting a preorder has not been without its trials. After facing delays due to tariffs, the Switch 2 preorders opened on April 24 at a price of $449.99, but the process has been rocky. Nintendo even cautioned customers that delivery dates for those who ordered via the My Nintendo Store may not be guaranteed due to astronomical demand.

Price Stability Amid Tariffs?

Fans have raised concerns about impending tariffs potentially affecting the console's price. When pressed about maintaining the $450 price point, Bowser maintained a diplomatic stance but hinted at Nintendo’s commitment to this pricing strategy, despite the uncertain market conditions.

"We believe it’s crucial to establish this price to assure our consumers they can snag a Switch 2 without unexpected hikes," he explained. "As conditions evolve, we will seek ways to keep our products—like the Switch 2—affordable and within reach for our loyal gamers."
