SINGAPORE – A serious road accident near the bustling Golden Landmark Shopping Complex sent shockwaves through the Bugis area on the night of September 17, with one man rushed to the hospital.
Emergency services responded swiftly after being alerted to the incident at the busy junction of Arab Street and Victoria Street around 9:50 PM. Witnesses were left in disbelief as events unfolded.
The crash involved two vehicles, with a 55-year-old male driver who was taken to the hospital conscious, while the other driver, aged 34, is currently aiding police with their investigation.
According to the Singapore Civil Defence Force, the injured man was swiftly transported to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, while another individual, assessed for minor injuries, declined treatment.
Shocking dashcam footage has emerged, capturing the chaotic moments leading to the crash. It shows a vehicle approaching a traffic junction just as the light turns red, followed closely by a red sports car that brazenly sails through the intersection, clipping a white car before careening towards the center divider.
The footage reveals a remarkable eight-second window from the moment the light switched to red until the ill-fated red car burst through the intersection.
A separate video shared on the Singapore Roads Accident Facebook page shows the aftermath – the damaged red sports car wedged awkwardly on the kerb, its passenger door severely dented, while a white sedan nearby bears a battered front bumper.
Police officers and an ambulance were promptly on site, working to ensure safety and begin their investigations into the collision.
As the investigation continues, this incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers on the roads. Stay tuned for updates!
