PETALING JAYA: Exciting news for Malaysians as the Transport Minister, Anthony Loke Siew Fook, has officially revealed plans to integrate the RapidKL My50 pass with the popular Touch 'n Go (TnG) e-wallet.

This groundbreaking move is set to revolutionize the way commuters manage their travel expenses, eliminating the frustrating queues at LRT station counters for pass renewals.

Loke stated that the integration is projected to be completed in the 'coming months,' aiming to enhance accessibility and convenience for users.

He emphasized the significance of the monthly My50 pass, which serves as a vital government subsidy designed to ensure affordable public transportation for all.

In his remarks, Loke detailed the multifaceted objectives behind this subsidy initiative:

"We implement this (subsidy provision) based on several objectives: to reduce the cost of living and to decrease the number of vehicles on the road."

This statement underscores the government's commitment to tackling urban congestion while supporting the financial well-being of its citizens.

The My50 pass stands out with its affordability, allowing commuters to travel for under RM2 each way.

This cost-effective option has gained traction since its inception, with over 220,000 subscribers as of September 2024—an impressive number that has doubled since the pass was launched in 2019.

Moreover, the transport subsidy, which includes the My50 pass, reportedly amounts to an astounding RM1,200 per user annually, significantly easing the burden on daily travelers.

This strategic initiative comes at a time when the nation is focused on promoting sustainable transportation solutions, and additional efforts are underway to extend the My50 initiative in the upcoming Budget 2025.

With these developments on the horizon, commuters can look forward to a seamless and economical transportation experience, paving the way for a smarter and greener future in public transport.

Stay tuned for more updates on this innovative integration!
