Nescafé Set to Flow Again in Thailand!

Great news for coffee lovers in Thailand! Nestlé Thailand has officially announced that sales and distribution of the beloved Nescafé instant coffee brand can resume following a crucial legal victory.

On Saturday, the Central Intellectual Property and International Trade Court ruled in favor of Nestlé's exclusive rights to the Nescafé trademark, allowing the company to get back to business.

Cruawan Varunpaichit, Executive Business Manager at Nestlé Professional Thailand, confirmed the exciting update, which comes just in time for an important court hearing scheduled for Thursday.

Behind the Scenes of the Legal Battle!

Nescafé, produced locally through a partnership with the Mahagitsiri family in a venture called Quality Coffee Products Ltd (QCP), has faced some bumps in the road. The joint venture expired at the end of 2024, and disagreements among shareholders have left the future of QCP uncertain.

Prayudh Mahagitsiri, one of the shareholders, sought a legal injunction that temporarily halted Nestlé's ability to manufacture or distribute Nescafé products starting April 3.

A Swift Legal Reply!

Shortly after, on April 11, Nestlé appealed the injunction, stating that the court order was causing disruptions in the supply chain, impacting coffee bean farmers and packaging suppliers alike.

With a court hearing set for April 17 to determine the fate of the injunction, the industry is buzzing with hopes that a swift resolution will allow Nescafé to resume normal distribution without a significant supply shortage.

What Lies Ahead for Nescafé?

As Nescafé looks to reclaim its spot on shelves across Thailand, coffee enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting their favorite brews. Will this recent court victory put an end to the turmoil? Stay tuned for updates as the coffee saga unfolds!
