MRT Corp Sets the Record Straight on Penang LRT Mutiara Line Progress
KUALA LUMPUR, April 21 — In a bid to quell public anxiety regarding the Penang Light Rail Transit (LRT) Mutiara Line, MRT Corp has stepped forward to confirm that the project is advancing as scheduled.
The agency released a statement revealing that it received official permission to commence advance works under the Town and Country Planning Act on April 15, dispelling any rumors of delays.
In an impressive turn of events, MRT Corp has successfully secured access to 86 land plots, well ahead of expectations, after just three months of intensive activity.
Thanks to the provisions of the Land Acquisition Act, this achievement highlights the steady momentum behind this ambitious project.
A Commitment to Progress and Transparency
"Over the past three months, MRT Corp has been diligently pushing the project forward," the government-linked corporation declared.
The appointed civil contractor, SRS Consortium, is currently working to meet contractual obligations before they can officially kick off construction.
Until the Notice to Proceed is granted, SRS will finalize civil engineering plans and begin utility relocations to set the stage for groundbreaking construction.
Connecting Penang's Future
MRT Corp has reiterated its dedication to maintaining transparency and ensuring progress as the project moves into its next phase.
Envisioned to connect vital residential, commercial, and industrial areas, the Mutiara Line is a key component in Penang's ambitious transport master plan, aiming to link the bustling center of Komtar to the Penang International Airport and beyond.
This project is not only a leap towards modernising transport but is set to propel Penang's infrastructure into the future, making travel more efficient for residents and visitors alike!
