Tragedy struck in Sembawang when the decomposing body of a 61-year-old man was discovered in his Housing Board flat, alarming the neighborhood with a foul odor.

The man, a recently relocated security guard who lived alone, was remembered fondly by local residents, especially the children, who described him as friendly and approachable.

Residents reported that the lights in his flat had been on for days, prompting concern when a persistent and putrid smell began to seep through the corridors.

At approximately 2:10 PM on Thursday, September 4, local police responded to a call for help from Block 363C Sembawang Crescent after a neighbor, identified only as Bai, alerted them.

According to Bai, after noticing the unsettling smell and consulting with others, he decided to involve the authorities.

Another resident, 29-year-old Wu, recounted how the police found the unit’s door locked. They peered through the window, only to discover the man collapsed inside.

Fortunately, paramedics pronounced him dead on the scene, but foul play is not suspected, and investigations are ongoing.

This grim discovery highlights the importance of community vigilance and neighborly welfare, reminding us to check in on those who live alone.
