Revolutionizing Weather Forecasting from Space

Launching from an orbit 36,000 kilometers above Earth, the Meteosat Third Generation Sounder satellite (MTG-S1) is poised to transform severe weather forecasting as we know it. Unlike traditional imaging satellites, the MTG-S1 employs its cutting-edge Infrared Sounder to gather critical data on temperature, humidity, and trace gases, creating detailed three-dimensional atmospheric maps.

This groundbreaking data will revolutionize our ability to detect and anticipate quickly changing and potentially hazardous weather patterns, enabling more reliable storm warnings and allowing communities to prepare for storms.
