Motorola has just introduced its first smartphone in the eagerly awaited Edge 60 series, the Edge 60 Fusion, and it's making waves with its unique faux-canvas finish. Priced affordably at £299.99 (approximately $390), this midrange contender boasts a stylish design characterized by a sleek profile and an innovative camera module.

The standout feature of the Edge 60 Fusion is undoubtedly its canvas-effect texture, available exclusively on the "amazonite" (teal) color variant. Other color options, including blue and pink, feature a faux leather finish. Regardless of the finish, every version of the phone comes with an impressive IP68 and IP69 rating, making it resistant to dust and capable of withstanding water immersion and high-pressure sprays — a notable advantage for those who lead an active lifestyle.

Under the hood, this midrange device packs a powerful 5,200mAh battery housed within a slim body measuring less than 8mm in thickness, with a vibrant 6.67-inch OLED display that enhances the viewing experience. Interestingly, some international models are said to feature an even larger 5,500mAh battery, though they are slightly thicker.

Customers can choose between 8GB and 12GB of RAM alongside storage options of up to 512GB. However, the performance might be tempered by the MediaTek Dimensity chipset that powers the device — either the 7300 or 7400 model, both of which offer an adequate but unremarkable user experience. In terms of photography, what appears to be four cameras on the back consists of a flash and a flicker sensor, limiting users to a 50-megapixel main camera and a 13-megapixel ultrawide lens.

The Edge 60 Fusion marks the beginning of Motorola's Edge 60 lineup, which is expected to expand following the success of last year's Edge 50 series, which featured five models. Unfortunately for US consumers, none of these devices are expected to launch in the States, with Motorola instead offering the Moto G Power at $299.99. While the G Power lacks the OLED display and distinctive canvas feel of the Fusion, it compensates with wireless charging capabilities.

In addition to the Edge 60 series, Motorola is rumored to soon unveil updated versions of its iconic Razr flip phones, with speculations hinting at a nostalgic wooden finish reminiscent of the 2014 Moto X, promising to blend modern technology with a touch of retro charm.

For tech enthusiasts and those seeking practical yet stylish smartphones, the Edge 60 Fusion could become an appealing option in the midrange market as Motorola continues to innovate and captivate its audience.
