SINGAPORE - A serious workplace incident has caught the Ministry of Manpower's (MOM) attention after a bore piling machine toppled over at a construction site on Tanjong Rhu Close.
On September 9, social media buzzed with images showing the massive machine lying on its side, surrounded by construction workers—a sight that raised alarms about construction site safety.
According to MOM, the incident took place around 9 AM on September 8, as the machine was being positioned for work, but thankfully, no injuries were reported.
The ministry is actively investigating the incident and is collaborating with BHCC Construction, the company in charge of the site, to ensure the safe recovery of the toppled equipment. In a statement, MOM emphasized the critical need for proper ground assessments, stating, "Employers must ensure that the ground is level, stable, and has sufficient bearing capacity before heavy equipment is positioned for work."
