MindsEye's Disastrous Launch Sparks Urgent Action
In a desperate bid to salvage the faltering launch of MindsEye, developers have rolled out the first of several emergency hotfixes aimed at addressing serious performance issues. This follows a rocky debut that forced the cancellation of sponsored streams and led to a flood of refund requests, even from traditionally stubborn Sony.
Hotfix #1: The Details You Need to Know
Hotfix #1 is now live on PC (5.7GB) and PS5 (2GB), with Xbox Series X and S versions (4GB) expected soon. The team at Build A Rocket Boy announced this patch via Discord, confirming its expedited rollout to tackle user feedback and enhance the gaming experience.
What’s Included in the Hotfix?
This crucial update introduces significant upgrades to CPU and GPU performance, memory optimization, and even adjusts the difficulty of the CPR mini-game. Players will also find a new setting allowing them to modify or disable Depth of Field, alongside fixes for missing controls in the MineHunter and Run Dungeon mini-games.
PC players benefit from added pop-up warnings for those with Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling disabled, as well as for users with CPUs that may lead to crashes. Notably, the patch aims to resolve memory leak issues that have plagued many users, a crucial step for improving overall stability.
Commitment to Improvement: What’s Next?
Build A Rocket Boy has assured players that performance optimization is their top priority and an ongoing process that will require time. Frequent updates will be provided, reinforcing their commitment to promptly address community critiques and enhance gameplay.
Looking Ahead: Can MindsEye Make a Comeback?
By the end of June, players can expect further stability improvements, a rebalanced ‘hard’ difficulty setting, animation enhancements, and AI upgrades. However, the critical question remains: Can Leslie Benzies, formerly of Rockstar North, turn this ship around? Despite a peak of 3,302 concurrent players during launch, the numbers have plummeted, with only 435 players currently active on Steam, and user reviews hovering at a 'mixed' rating. Only time will tell if MindsEye can recover from this shaky start.
