This week, Microsoft has unintentionally whisked Windows 11 users away on a time-traveling trip back to 2007, thanks to a quirky mistake with its startup sounds.
In a recent Insider Preview build of Windows 11, users were bewildered to find that instead of the familiar and sleek startup chime of Windows 11, they were welcomed by the iconic boot sound of Windows Vista—a nostalgic tune that many haven't heard in years.
Microsoft quickly responded to the humorous blunder, labeling it as an accidental change and assuring users that the original sound would be restored in an upcoming update.
The Windows Insider team cheekily noted, "This week's flight comes with a delightful blast from the past and will play the Windows Vista boot sound instead of the Windows 11 boot sound," adding a touch of levity to the situation.
Despite the mix-up being unintentional, it struck a chord with many users who took to social media, reveling in the nostalgic vibes. Some even claimed they preferred Vista’s retro charm over the current sound. However, it seems that Vista’s cameo will be a short-lived nostalgia rush, as Windows 11's acclaimed startup sound is set to make its return very soon.
