New Faces Ready to Shake Things Up!
Singapore's political landscape is heating up as the Progress Singapore Party (PSP) has officially unveiled its lineup for the Chua Chu Kang GRC on Saturday (April 19). Entering the fray is Lawrence Pek, a fresh face who aims to make waves alongside three experienced candidates.
The PSP team features A'bass Kasmani, the party's second vice-chairperson and a seasoned safety practitioner at 71; Wendy Low, the head of the women's wing and a savvy intellectual property lawyer at 48; and S. Nallakaruppan, 60, a chartered accountant and former stockbroker. Pek, a former secretary-general of the Singapore Manufacturing Federation, joins their ranks, ready to advocate for the community.
A Tough Battle Ahead!
This dynamic quartet is gearing up to face tough competition from a People's Action Party (PAP) team led by Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong, who is joined by former MP Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim and newcomers Jeffrey Siow, a former civil servant, and Choo Pei Ling, an assistant professor at the Singapore Institute of Technology.
What’s New in Chua Chu Kang?
Chua Chu Kang GRC boasts a significant voter base of 93,368, recently reshaped by electoral boundary changes. The GRC now includes parts of Hong Kah North and the Tengah estates, while a new Bukit Gombak SMC has been carved out, with Senior Minister of State Low Yen Ling set to contest there.
A Look Back at 2020 Results!
In 2020, the PAP secured victory with 58.64% of the votes. This time around, the PSP hopes to galvanize support, leveraging its fresh faces and revamped strategies.
🔥 Lawrence Pek: The New Visionary!
Meet Lawrence Pek, 55, who previously led the Singapore Manufacturing Federation from 2020 to 2023. Known for his advocacy on critical industry issues, Pek has a rich history in the tech sphere, including 14 years at Sony Electronics and a successful camera manufacturing venture in China.
Currently, he serves as CEO of Shenzhen Guard Technology, specializing in cutting-edge radar sensors and IoT routers. His ambition is clear: by engaging with local residents and business owners, he hopes to bridge the gap between the community and political representation.
Addressing the Needs of Young Voters!
