Damisa Secures £2.25 Million in Pre-Seed Funding
Introducing Damisa, an innovative cross-border payments platform launched by Jordan Lawrence, co-founder of the successful fintech Volt. The startup has just clinched an impressive £2.25 million in pre-seed funding to enhance its operations and expand its services.
Bridging the Gap in International Transactions
Damisa specializes in facilitating seamless international transactions across various sectors, including logistics, real estate, travel, and education. By targeting these key industries, Damisa aims to transform the way businesses handle cross-border payments.
Visionaries Behind Damisa's Launch
Lawrence, who previously played a pivotal role in building Volt—a fintech now valued at $350 million—launched Damisa alongside former Kraken executive Maximilian Marenbach and Panos Dandolas, Agoda’s former head of fintech innovation. This powerhouse team is dedicated to simplifying the complexities of global transactions.
Innovative Solutions for Modern Businesses
"By implementing our smart wallets and orchestrating leading stablecoins, Damisa will take the hassle out of escrow services and cross-border payments, increasing transparency for businesses, especially in challenging emerging markets," Lawrence stated.
Funding Fuels Ambitious Growth Plans
The fresh injection of cash will help Damisa scale its operations, enhance its product offerings, and secure the necessary regulatory licenses. Notably, the company has already acquired a Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) license in Poland and is nearing completion on obtaining an Australian Financial Services License (AFSL).
Fuel Ventures Leads the Charge
Leading the pre-seed funding round is Fuel Ventures, a venture capital firm based in London that previously backed Lawrence’s Volt. Mark Pearson, managing partner at Fuel Ventures, expressed enthusiasm about investing in Lawrence once again, highlighting the team’s extensive experience and potential to make a significant global impact.
A Promising Future for Damisa
Additional support for the funding round came from EWOR, Greyhound Capital, and angel investor Mark Ransford. Pearson concluded, "Damisa is uniquely positioned to fundamentally transform international payments, and we are thrilled to support their ambitious growth trajectory moving forward."
