In a shocking incident that unfolded on the morning of August 5, a major collision involving two double-decker buses and a private car in Tampines Avenue 7 left thirteen individuals needing medical attention.
The police were alerted to the alarming accident at approximately 10:15 AM. Among the injured were the 69-year-old male bus driver and twelve passengers, aged between 30 and 69, all of whom were conscious when they were transported to the hospital.
Emergency services swiftly acted, with the Singapore Civil Defence Force reporting that five victims were taken to Changi General Hospital and eight to Sengkang General Hospital.
A dramatic video shared on Instagram by sgfollowsall reveals the aftermath: a silver car stood stationary at a traffic junction, flanked by two damaged SBS buses, the scene showcasing the wreckage of the collision.
Images featured in the Chinese-language Shin Min Daily News depict significant wreckage, including the smashed windscreen of one bus and extensive damage to its front passenger door. The upper deck’s front-facing window was notably cracked, further illustrating the intensity of the impact.
The other bus didn’t escape unscathed either; its rear upper-deck window was shattered, exposing the last row of passenger seats.
Additional photos captured a paramedic tending to two injured individuals on the ground, highlighting the urgency of the situation.
In a TikTok video posted by user Ella, passengers remain on board one of the buses, visibly shaken as authorities arrive.
Reports by Lianhe Zaobao suggest that the car involved was a private hire vehicle, raising questions about safety protocols in ride-sharing contexts.
By 10:45 AM, SBS Transit took to social media platform X to inform passengers that several bus services were delayed due to the accident, although they later confirmed that operations had returned to normal.
Police investigations are currently underway to ascertain the details leading to this chaotic scene. The Straits Times is in contact with SBS for further information.
