Chaos Erupts on the CTE: 5-Car Collision Sparks Huge Traffic Jam

SINGAPORE – A chaotic scene unfolded on the Central Expressway (CTE) on May 4 as a multi-car accident involving five vehicles brought traffic to a grinding halt. Eyewitness reports detail the aftermath of the crash, which left one woman, a 34-year-old passenger, requiring urgent medical attention.

As the incident occurred around 5:30 PM, first responders, including the police and Singapore Civil Defence Force, quickly arrived at the scene, poised to handle the unfolding crisis. The injured passenger was conscious as she was transported to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

Dramatic footage shared online highlights the dire situation, showing congestion backing up as far as the eye could see, while the two right-most lanes remained blocked by wrecked vehicles. Emergency services set up a significant presence, with at least three ambulances and multiple police units on site.

The collision involved two cars positioned diagonally across the roadway; one had smashed into the road divider, while the other displayed extensive damage to its rear end. Nearby, a black vehicle rested perilously close to the divider with a severely damaged tyre, creating additional hazards for fellow drivers.

While two more individuals were assessed for minor injuries at the scene, they opted not to seek further medical treatment. As traffic resumed, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictable nature of road safety.
