Exciting Changes at National Gallery Singapore

In an exciting turn of events at the National Gallery Singapore, Aun Koh has stepped down as the editor in chief of Tatler Singapore to take on a significant new role. He has joined the National Gallery as the assistant chief executive (marketing and development), marking a strategic shift in the gallery's marketing leadership.

Leadership Transition

The position was previously occupied by Chris Lee, who will now focus on operational excellence as the assistant chief executive of operations. Lee's new responsibilities include managing the teams tasked with both the physical and digital infrastructure of the gallery, along with essential administrative functions aimed at fostering innovation and enhancing visitor experience.

A Strategic Move

In a significant shakeup aimed at modernizing the gallery's approach, Koh’s appointment is part of new CEO Eugene Tan's comprehensive reorganisation plan, which assesses the evolving needs of the institution. Koh will be in charge of a newly formed joint portfolio covering marketing, communications, creative services, fundraising, and partnership development—vital elements for growing the gallery’s outreach and influence.

Aun Koh's Experience

Koh is well-equipped for this role, having a robust history of engagement in Singapore's cultural landscape. He previously led an omnichannel content strategy for Tatler that successfully enhanced brand visibility and revenue through rich editorial and innovative commercial partnerships. His extensive experience in the arts also includes serving as the deputy director of the Visual and Literary Arts division at the National Arts Council from 2004 to 2006, where he played a key role in launching prime events like the Singapore Art Show and Singapore Biennale.

Commitment to the Arts

Always a champion for the arts, Koh is also a member of the Board of the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, where he supports the education of emerging talent in the arts sector. He was the founding Chairman of the Pangdemonium Theatre Company and has previously spearheaded initiatives at the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre aimed at enhancing corporate social responsibility among local businesses.

Looking Ahead

With Koh’s visionary leadership and operational expertise under Lee, the National Gallery Singapore is poised for an exciting future, aiming to captivate and expand its audience while maintaining its commitment to innovation in the arts.
