Major Shakeup at Singapore Post as Industry Veteran Takes on New COO Role
SINGAPORE: In a strategic move signaling significant changes at Singapore Post, the company has appointed Ms. Neo Su Yin as its new group chief operating officer (COO), effective Thursday, January 2. This newly created role emphasizes the company's commitment to innovation and operational excellence as it navigates a rapidly changing sector.
Ms. Neo will be at the helm of Singapore Post’s core business units, including both domestic and international operations, as well as the property sector. Under the guidance of board chairman Simon Israel, she will spearhead the company’s transformational agenda aimed at delivering measurable results and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
“With the increasingly competitive landscape of postal and logistics services, the COO position is crucial for executing our transformation initiatives,” stated a representative from SingPost. Ms. Neo's immediate focus will include a comprehensive review of the international business unit, a move aimed at optimizing operations and enhancing service delivery.
Having joined SingPost in April 2019 as vice president of customer experience, Ms. Neo has a proven track record within the organization, rising rapidly to become Singapore CEO by November 2021. Her tenure saw substantial advancements in critical areas such as last-mile delivery and digital transformation, which are vital for meeting the evolving expectations of customers in an interconnected world.
Prior to her return to SingPost, she served as managing director for Singapore at dnata, a leading air and travel services provider, where she was responsible for logistics and cargo operations at Changi Airport. This experience further solidifies her qualifications to lead SingPost during this period of transition.
In her previous roles, Ms. Neo also demonstrated notable leadership at Changi Airport Group, where she managed ground operations and focused heavily on improving customer experiences—skills that will be pivotal in her new position.
Ms. Neo expressed her enthusiasm for rejoining SingPost, stating, “I am honored to return at this transformative juncture and appreciate the trust the board has placed in me. I am committed to working with the leadership team to drive excellence and strengthen accountability throughout the organization.”
This leadership change comes on the heels of significant upheaval at SingPost, with the company parting ways with three senior executives in December due to allegations stemming from internal inquiries related to a whistleblower's report. The dismissed executives, including the former group CEO Vincent Phang, have contested the terminations, claiming they were unwarranted and unfairly executed.
As Ms. Neo embarks on her new journey at SingPost, industry observers are keenly watching to see how her extensive experience will shape the future of the national postal service provider and its ongoing efforts to adapt to the demands of a digital age.
