SINGAPORE - A frustrating track point fault between the Yishun and Sembawang MRT stations on the North-South Line caused significant delays for commuters on May 11, with the issue persisting for over three hours.
SMRT, the operator of the MRT system, announced on X around 5:40 PM that normal services had finally resumed after the fault was successfully cleared.
Initially, at about 2:25 PM, passengers were warned to expect an additional 10 minutes of travel time when making their way between Yishun and Sembawang.
Later, at 3:22 PM, commuters heading towards Orchard and Marina South Pier were advised to switch to the Thomson-East Coast Line at Woodlands Station to minimize delays.
"We sincerely apologize for the disruption and appreciate your patience as we worked to resolve the issue," SMRT stated.
