KUALA LUMPUR – Exciting news for Singaporean motorists!
Two new Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) centres are about to open in Johor, revolutionizing the way you access Malaysia. The new locations include the highly sought-after Paradigm Mall Johor Bahru, while the existing centres at Larkin and Taman Daya are closing their doors.
New Centre Details
A representative from TCSens, the appointed vendor by Malaysia’s Road Transport Department (JPJ) for VEP affairs, confirmed that the first new centre will commence operations on October 30 at Paradigm Mall, situated just 15 minutes away from the bustling Causeway checkpoint in Johor Bahru.
Additional Centre Coming Soon
But that's not all! A second VEP centre will be established in the Iskandar Puteri area, conveniently located near the Malaysia-Singapore Second Link connecting Tuas in Singapore to southwestern Johor. Although specific details are not yet finalized, this additional centre is expected to ease the burden of processing permits for drivers entering Malaysia.
Closure of Current Centres
As the new centres open, the VEP operations at the current JPJ Academy in Larkin and the JPJ in Taman Daya will officially cease on October 30. Make sure to wrap up any pending business at those locations before the deadline!
Operating Hours and Appointment Details
Motorists can find the Paradigm Mall VEP Collection Centre on the seventh floor of the mall's car park, operating until January 31, 2025. For the grand opening on October 30 and 31, the centre will be available from 10 AM to midnight. After that, it will be open daily from 10 AM to 10 PM.
Important Reminder
Remember, it's crucial to schedule an appointment through Malaysia’s JPJ website before your visit, and don’t forget to bring along your appointment slip to collect the VEP radio frequency identification (RFID) tags!
VEP Requirement Announcement
Back in May, it was announced that all foreign-registered vehicles entering Malaysia from Singapore—whether via the Causeway or the Second Link—would be required to display VEPs starting October 1. This initiative, which incorporates an RFID tag, will enable Malaysian authorities to efficiently monitor foreign vehicles using the country's roads.
Conclusion
As a reminder, the new VEP centres at Paradigm Mall, Danga Bay in Johor, and Woodlands in Singapore will be pivotal for collecting, installing, and activating these RFID tags. Stay tuned for more updates and ensure smooth travels between Malaysia and Singapore with these important changes!
