IU Takes a Stand: Lawsuit Against Online Harassment from Former Classmate

In a significant move, EDAM Entertainment, the agency representing the renowned South Korean artist IU, has filed legal action against several individuals accused of perpetrating extensive online harassment against the singer.

On November 11, KST, EDAM released a statement outlining their decisive response to what they classified as severe harassment, stretching beyond normal criticism into criminal territory. In one notable case, a perpetrator accused of cyberbullying IU with defamatory remarks and death threats was fined 3 million KRW (around $2,140 USD), though they have since appealed the ruling.

Among those implicated in the numerous allegations of plagiarism is reportedly a former middle school classmate of IU. Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, this individual allegedly persists in harassing the star. EDAM revealed, “One of them was a fellow student at IU’s middle school. Even with the ongoing case, they continue to harass IU, prompting us to take action.”
