Since August 25, thousands have taken to the streets in Jakarta and beyond, igniting clashes with police and demanding sweeping reforms. Unfortunately, the protests have led to tragic outcomes, with reports of at least ten deaths, including those of two delivery riders caught in the unrest.

Among the casualties is 21-year-old Gojek rider Affan Kurniawan, who was fatally struck by a police armored vehicle while working on August 28. In a bid to support their delivery partners, both Grab and Gojek have launched initiatives where users can purchase meals for drivers. Grab recently unveiled its 'treat a driver' feature on GrabFood, while Gojek also promoted a similar 'treat your driver' option within their GoFood service.
