Huawei is making waves in the tech world with their latest innovation—the MateBook Fold, the company's inaugural folding PC. Following the buzz surrounding their triple-folding Mate XT, this launch signals Huawei's unwavering commitment to revolutionizing foldable devices.
While it's Huawei's first venture into the foldable PC realm, they aren't the pioneers here. Lenovo has proudly held the crown for five years with their ThinkPad X1 Fold.
What sets the MateBook Fold apart? Bursting with features, it boasts an impressive 18-inch foldable OLED display with a stunning resolution of 3296 x 2472 pixels, a peak brightness of 1,600 nits, and vibrant support for the P3 color space. When folded, it transforms into a compact 13-inch screen, making multi-tasking a breeze.
Its design is equally remarkable. When fully unfolded, it measures a sleek 7.3mm in thickness and only 14.9mm when folded. Weighing in at just 1.16kg, it rivals many of today’s lightest ultraportable laptops.
Although Huawei kept the specifics of its internal processing unit under wraps, they confirmed that the MateBook Fold will feature a hearty 32GB of RAM and a substantial 2TB SSD. Connectivity is also a breeze with two USB-C ports and Wi-Fi 6 support.
In an intriguing twist, the MateBook Fold will run on HarmonyOS, marking it as the very first Huawei PC to utilize the company’s new custom operating system, especially significant considering Huawei's current limitations with Windows access.
This innovative release is not just about folding technology; it's a significant leap forward as the first PC to integrate HarmonyOS.
