High-Speed Midnight Chase in Johor Leads to Arrest of Singaporean Woman and Malaysian Man for Drug Trafficking

In a thrilling late-night operation that sounds like a scene from an action movie, Johor police apprehended two suspects—a 38-year-old Singaporean woman and a 49-year-old Malaysian man—during a dramatic car chase that unfolded on December 31. This police action resulted in the seizure of dangerous drugs valued at approximately RM54,831 (around S$16,600).

Johor Police Chief Commissioner M. Kumar detailed that the incident was initiated by officers from the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department who were conducting surveillance in Taman Seri Bahagia when they noticed a grey compact car behaving suspiciously. When the officers moved in to inspect the vehicle, the driver accelerated recklessly, injuring two police officers in the process. These officers sustained injuries to their arms as the suspects fled the area.

Despite the officers' attempts to stop the vehicle, the suspects sped away onto the Pasir Gudang Highway, igniting a high-speed pursuit that involved numerous police patrol vehicles from surrounding areas, including Kulai and Kluang. The chase saw the suspects ram through a toll barrier at Senai Utara Toll Plaza and weave onto the North-South Expressway before finally coming to a halt in Simpang Renggam, Kluang.

Upon searching the vehicle, authorities discovered several packages containing substances believed to be illicit drugs. The types of drugs seized include: - Cannabis weighing 697.4g (valued at RM7,172) - Methamphetamine weighing 62g (valued at RM6,820) - Ecstasy powder weighing 4.1g (valued at RM684.70) - Heroine weighing 3.8g (valued at RM95) - Nitrazepam pills weighing 14g (valued at RM60)
