Culprit Captured After International Escape

In a gripping turn of events, a 34-year-old Singaporean, Ong Jian Zhen, has been arrested following his deportation from Thailand. Accused of hacking into numerous accounts with NTUC FairPrice and Zalora, he's alleged to have orchestrated a fraudulent scheme to siphon off over S$25,000 (about US$19,400) through deceitful online purchases.

A Criminal Journey Across Borders

Ong's criminal journey began back in October 2021 when he was first charged with cheating. After skipping bail, he vanished, ignoring multiple court summons until a warrant was eventually issued for his arrest in September 2022. The police received numerous reports from customers who found their accounts compromised between July and November 2022, sparking a significant investigation.

Collaboration Leads to Arrest

During the investigation, authorities discovered that Ong wasn’t alone in his illicit activities—he allegedly collaborated with at least six accomplices. The Singapore Police Force (SPF) collaborated with international law enforcement agencies to track him down, leading to his arrest in Thailand in October 2022 on unrelated drug and immigration charges.
