SINGAPORE - Renowned radio personality Glenn Ong is navigating a wave of personal transformations with grace, following the recent end of his marriage to fellow DJ Jean Danker.

In a candid interview, the beloved host of The Big Show with Glenn and Angel on Kiss92, now 54, shared, 'I keep it very professional. The show must go on.' This mantra rings true as he handles his professional commitments while processing the emotional complexities of his life.

Ong and Danker, 46, revealed their split on Instagram in late December, concluding eight years of marriage. The news rippled through their fanbase, amplifying interest in their next chapters.

Just a week later, Ong faced another shift when his longtime collaborator Mark van Cuylenburg, famed as The Flying Dutchman (FD), departed The Big Show to join One FM 91.3. The duo had famously teamed up since 2003, creating a strong bond both on and off the air.

On April 4, amidst these transitions, Ong snatched the coveted Presenter of the Year prize at SPH Media's annual awards, adding a fresh feather to his cap of achievements.

Reflecting on his divorce, Ong remarked, 'As sad as I feel about what has happened, we're still amicable.' He opts for privacy regarding the details of their separation, noting that this marks his third marriage—previously to Jamie Yeo and the late Kate Reyes.

Explaining his current mindset, Ong added, 'I’m not looking to move on to another serious relationship because I feel I’ve never had time for myself. I’ve never not been in a relationship.' Instead, he takes advantage of his newfound freedom to pursue leisure activities, hitting the gym and enjoying golf.

As he sets out to create his own path, Ong emphasizes how he now relishes the flexibility in his career. 'I can do just about anything, even a weekend getaway!' his enthusiasm palpable.

Despite the changes in co-hosts, Ong treasures his working relationship withFD. 'There’s nothing personal about their separation. I’m very comfortable working with him.' He acknowledges the need for the transition, understanding the strategic choices made by SPH Radio to rejuvenate their lineup.

Together with new co-host Angelique Teo, Ong is steering The Big Show into exciting territories, tackling diverse subjects like sustainability and technology during their daily sessions—infusing a fresh energy into the program.

Despite his history of being perceived as confrontational, Ong insists he has matured into a unifying force within the radio community. 'I'm focused on being a unifier now,' he expresses, revealing a desire to mend what he sees as the unnecessarily divided local radio industry.

As for his continued bond with FD, laughter fills the air. 'I always ask him to go out for drinks, and I get scolded the next day from One FM for it!' he chuckles, illustrating their camaraderie.

Looking ahead, Ong remains open to future collaborations with FD. 'If the bosses call and say we're back together again, I’ll say sure!' His hopeful outlook and adaptability are a testament to his enduring spirit.
