NLB Celebrates 30 Years with the Biggest Book Giveaway Ever!

SINGAPORE – In an unprecedented move, the National Library Board (NLB) is giving away a staggering 60,000 pre-loved books on September 13 and 14, marking a milestone for its 30th anniversary. This event isn't just big; it's the largest in NLB's history!

One-Stop Book Bonanza!

Unlike previous giveaways that spanned multiple library branches, this year’s 10th Big Book Giveaway will be a single, mega event located at the plaza of the National Library Building, 100 Victoria Street. From 10 AM to 4 PM, visitors are invited to take part in this literary celebration.

Grab Your Favorites – 10 Books Per Visitor!

Each attendee can bring home up to 10 books, and with genres ranging from fantasy and sci-fi to mystery and non-fiction, there’s something for everyone! Plus, 60 lucky participants will win special prizes in a surprise lucky dip.

A Tribute to Singapore's 60th!

In a nod to Singapore's 60th birthday in 2025, there will be a dedicated section featuring books about and from Singapore, celebrating its rich literary heritage. The collection mostly consists of older editions, lovingly sourced from the library’s expansive archives.

Join the Fun and Help the Community!

Last year’s event attracted a crowd of 6,000 book enthusiasts, and this year promises to be even more successful! Attendees not only get to adopt books but can also donate up to 50 books during the event. However, donations must exclude religious materials, textbooks, magazines, and any damaged items.

Strengthening Community Ties!

This giveaway is more than just a chance to grab free books; it’s part of the Love Our Libraries And Archives initiative. This program aims to deepen the connection between the community and the library system, laying the groundwork for innovative library experiences in Singapore.

A Leader with a Vision!

NLB CEO Ng Cher Pong expressed his commitment to preserving the tactile experience of reading physical books. He emphasized, "We hope this event will kindle a lasting passion for reading among Singaporeans." Prepare yourself for an exciting weekend filled with literary treasures!
