In a monumental leap for Italy’s space endeavors, the first IRIDE satellite, known as the Pathfinder Hawk, has officially entered orbit around Earth. This breakthrough occurred on January 14 when a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket successfully lifted off from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.

The IRIDE Program

The Pathfinder Hawk serves as a critical prototype in an ambitious initiative to develop a total of six satellite constellations under the IRIDE program.
