According to Link Asset Management, the library will find its new home on the fourth level of AMK Hub, although details remain scant. This level is currently undergoing renovations after the departure of Cathay Cineplexes.

The current library location has been earmarked for health-related uses under the Urban Redevelopment Authority’s (URA) Draft Master Plan for 2025. The 5,300 square meter space on Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6 could transform into a hospital, polyclinic, nursing home, or other healthcare facilities!

The library, which has been a community staple since its opening in 1985, announced its relocation via social media. Excitingly, users can expect a more interactive and immersive environment at AMK Hub.

Local residents like 37-year-old Ms. Chantel Kismet express mixed feelings. Having spent many afternoons in the library while attending school nearby, she treasures the familiarity it offers. "It's more than just a library; it's a comfort zone away from the city's hustle,” she shared.

For Ms. Kismet, visits with her homeschooled daughter are a cherished routine, blending reading time with family meals. Losing that comforting tradition is a bitter pill to swallow.

Concerns are swirling about the potential crowding at the new AMK Hub location. Eighteen-year-old student Teo Wenhui feared that finding a quiet spot to study may become a challenge in the bustling mall.

On the flip side, some residents like 30-year-old Mr. Eugene Ho are hopeful. "The new location might actually be more convenient for dropping off books and catching public transport," he remarked, weighing nostalgia against convenience.
