SINGAPORE: Get ready for a smoother commute!
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has thrilling news for Northeast Singapore residents. Starting from January 2, 2025, four brand-new City Direct Services (CDS) will provide faster and more convenient transportation options to the Central Business District (CBD) during peak hours.
These new express bus routes, numbered 675, 676, 677, and 678, are designed to serve as efficient alternatives to the existing North East Line. Perfect for daily commuters, these buses will operate two trips in the morning and two in the evening on weekdays, offering convenience without the hassle of transferring lines—great news for those who value time!
Here’s how the new services will operate:
CDS 675:
This bus will start from Block 953 Yio Chu Kang Road, making stops at Hougang Avenues 9, 4, 10, 2, and 3, plus Tampines Road.
CDS 676:
Kicking off from Block 477A Upper Serangoon Road, it will stop at Hougang Avenues 7 and 5, making it ideal for residents in those areas.
CDS 677:
Starting from Block 110 Punggol Road, this service will pass through significant locations like Sengkang East Way and Anchorvale Road, also accommodating commuters heading towards the bustling Punggol area.
CDS 678:
Beginning at Block 162B Punggol Central, this route will connect through Edgefield Plains and Punggol North Avenue, ensuring access to key local destinations before heading into the CBD.
The first stop on all routes will be at Hub Synergy Point on Anson Road, with the final destination at Suntec Tower Two on Temasek Boulevard. For the return journey, evening commuters can hop on at Suntec Tower Three for a comfortable ride home.
But that’s not all! On January 12, 2025, Woodlands residents will also benefit from a new bus service, 976, catering to those living near Woodlands Avenue 1, Marsiling, and Admiralty. Additionally, Service 230 will be expanded by February 2025 to reach Toa Payoh Lorong 7 and 8, and Caldecott MRT station, enhancing connectivity across the region.
These initiatives are part of LTA’s Bus Connectivity Enhancement Programme (BCEP) introduced in July 2024, focused on improving public transport efficiency for all Singaporeans.
Moreover, a new express feeder service, 298X, will be launched on December 9, catering to residents in the Tampines North and Tampines West areas. This service promises to speed up connections to the Tampines town center and transport hub, operating on weekdays during peak times.
As Singapore continues to evolve its public transport framework, these additions signal an exciting time for residents seeking better connectivity and an easier commute! Stay tuned for more updates as January approaches.
