SINGAPORE – Mark your calendars!
Muslims in Singapore are set to celebrate Hari Raya Puasa, also known as Hari Raya Aidilfitri, on March 31, as confirmed by the country’s top Islamic leader.
In a media statement released on March 30, Mufti Nazirudin Mohd Nasir announced that the crescent moon signaling the start of the new month of Syawal was sighted just above the horizon for 48 minutes after sunset. This astronomical occurrence confirms that the first day of Syawal falls the very next day.
“Therefore, I am pleased to declare that the first day of Syawal or Hari Raya Aidilfitri for the year 1446 Hijrah falls tomorrow,” Dr. Nazirudin stated. He extended heartfelt wishes to all Muslims in Singapore, urging them to embrace the joy and spirit of the occasion.
He added, “May this Hari Raya bring us blessings and victory as a result of all our acts of worship and good deeds that we have undertaken throughout the past month of Ramadan.”
