The Traffic Police have emphasized that these changes will not only widen the variety available but also lower helmet costs. Don’t worry if you’ve recently purchased a helmet under the old standards; you’re not required to replace it immediately. However, the Traffic Police recommend a helmet switch every five years, as materials degrade over time due to environmental exposure.

Previously, the 2014 standards' destructive testing increased helmet prices, and the strict design criteria often led to failures, particularly with convenient quick-release chin straps. The new standards aim to alleviate these issues, promoting not just safety but also practicality for riders.
