This week marked a significant milestone in the smartphone market with the global launch of the OnePlus 13. The latest flagship model comes with a higher price tag compared to its predecessor, but for fans of the brand, there's good news—a discount of €100 is currently available on the 16/512GB variant, making it more affordable and bringing its price in line with the previous OnePlus 12. Additionally, a more budget-friendly 12/256GB version has been made available, although it does not come with a discount. Tech enthusiasts are also eagerly awaiting the release of the OnePlus 13R.
To put the OnePlus 13 through its paces, we took it on a photo tour of the picturesque landscapes of Sri Lanka, complemented by an in-depth review that includes a video breakdown of its features. Notably, OnePlus has committed to providing 4 major OS updates along with an impressive 6 years of security patches, ensuring longevity for users.
In other exciting news, Xiaomi has launched the new Poco X7 series, which is already making waves in the UK. The series features two models: the standard Poco X7 and the more powerful Poco X7 Pro. The primary distinctions between the two lie in performance and battery specifications. The Poco X7 Pro boasts a robust Dimensity 8400 Ultra chipset and is equipped with the latest UFS 4.0 storage technology, ensuring faster performance and better multitasking.
Both models flaunt stunning 6.67” 120Hz OLED displays with Dolby Vision and HDR10+ capabilities, featuring a resolution of 1,220 x 2,712 pixels and protected by Gorilla Glass 7i. With a sizeable 6,000mAh battery, the Poco X7 Pro supports 90W HyperCharge, allowing it to fully recharge in just 42 minutes.
However, those looking for a more budget-friendly option might consider the standard Poco X7, available at a €70 lower price point. It's powered by a Dimensity 7300 Ultra chipset, utilizes UFS 2.2 storage, and features a smaller 5,110mAh battery that charges at 45W, reaching a full charge in 52 minutes.
Both models are IP68 rated, ensuring impressive water and dust resistance, but the X7 versions feature Gorilla Glass Victus for enhanced durability. Camera capabilities are similar across the series, with a triple setup: a 50MP main sensor with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 20MP front-facing camera. However, do note that the standard X7 model can only record video at 4K 30fps, whereas the X7 Pro allows for 4K at 60fps.
In the growing lineup of Poco devices, the X7 Pro also faces competition from its cousin, the Poco F6, which is priced similarly. The F6 comes equipped with the more powerful Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset while maintaining a comparable OLED display, though it lacks advanced water resistance with an IP64 rating and features a slightly smaller 5,000mAh battery with 90W charging.
For those willing to spend a bit more, the Realme GT 6T is available at €60 extra for an 8/256GB configuration similar to the X7 Pro. This newcomer utilizes the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chipset and boasts a larger 6.78” LTPO panel with impressive specifications, although it remains slightly behind in camera capabilities.
