Exciting Developments in Singapore: New Bus Interchanges Set to Open!

SINGAPORE – Get ready for some thrilling news for commuters in Singapore! The much-anticipated Woodleigh bus interchange, located in the heart of the Bidadari housing estate, is finally set to open its doors on April 20. Meanwhile, a brand-new bus interchange within the integrated transport hub at Pasir Ris will begin operations just a week later, on April 27, as confirmed by the Land Transport Authority (LTA).

The Woodleigh interchange, which is part of the innovative Woodleigh Village development featuring 330 HDB flats and a new hawker centre, will be managed by SBS Transit. This underground bus interchange has faced significant delays primarily due to the Covid-19 pandemic and difficult engineering challenges, which pushed its original completion date, slated for 2021, back considerably.

Changes to local bus services will enhance connectivity in the area. Bus service 146 is set to be restructured to start from the new Woodleigh interchange, covering both directions along Bidadari Park Drive and adding four additional bus stops. Moreover, a brand-new service, Service 148, will establish a loop between the Woodleigh bus interchange and Potong Pasir. This route aims to connect residents with key amenities in both Bidadari and Potong Pasir estates, including the Woodleigh Mall, the new hawker centre, the Bidadari Community Club, and the forthcoming Bidadari Polyclinic, as well as renowned schools like Maris Stella High School and St Andrew’s Secondary School.

On the other side of the island, the new Pasir Ris bus interchange will operate under the management of Go-Ahead Singapore and will be a significant hub for local transport. All 17 bus services currently served by the old Pasir Ris interchange will transition to the new facility without any changes to their routes or stops. Additionally, it will host a dedicated pick-up and drop-off point for a shuttle bus that serves Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) servicemen traveling to and from the SAF Ferry Terminal in Changi.

What’s more, this new Pasir Ris interchange is strategically located within an integrated development that connects directly to the Pasir Ris Mall, which opened its doors in July 2024. Thanks to its design, commuters will benefit from seamless access to three MRT lines: the existing East-West Line, the anticipated Cross Island Line (CRL), and the Punggol Extension of the CRL.

The Land Transport Authority encourages commuters to be patient as bus operators acclimatize to the operations of these new interchange systems. With these developments, Singapore is making strides toward improving public transport and enhancing commuter experiences. Stay tuned for more updates as these interchanges prepare to revolutionize the way we travel!
