A Fresh Face for Tampines Boulevard

SINGAPORE – Big news for residents of the newly established Tampines Boulevard division! The area will now be represented by Baey Yam Keng, a seasoned MP from the Tampines GRC, following a strategic reorganization of constituency boundaries.

A Seamless Transition for Residents

With the recent electoral adjustments, former army chief David Neo will step into Baey's original ward of Tampines North. In a heartfelt Facebook post, Baey shared his efforts in introducing Neo to the community, expressing, "I hope you will welcome him as warmly as you welcomed me back in 2011." This smooth handover reflects the community's spirit and dedication.

What’s New in the Boulevard?

The shiny new Tampines Boulevard area encompasses brand-new flats located north of Tampines Avenue 9, boasting block numbers from 601 to 666. This change will officially take effect on June 1, creating a fresh neighborhood for residents.

Baey's Vision for the Future

Entering his fifth term as an MP, Baey is focused on addressing initial challenges residents may face as they settle into their new homes. His role as the new chairman of Tampines Town Council will also allow him to streamline services and enhance responsiveness to community feedback.

Navigating Teething Issues

Baey anticipates tackling various initial challenges such as maintenance issues and waste management as residents move in and start renovations. He emphasizes the importance of refining the council structure for better community engagement.

East Coast GRC Boundaries Reshaped

But that’s not all! The East Coast GRC has also seen boundary adjustments with Jessica Tan reappointed as chair of the East Coast Town Council. New appointments include enthusiastic vice-chairs Dinesh Vasu Dash and Hazlina Abdul Halim, focusing on maintaining and upgrading local facilities.

Strategically Planned Growth

To accommodate the increasing population, rising from 120,000 in 2020 to an expected 150,000 by 2025, the East Coast division will also witness some internal shifts, including transfers of various estates. These changes aim to optimize council services for the growing demographics.

Commitment to Community First

Minister Edwin Tong reassured that regular maintenance and community engagement remain priorities for their councils. He highlighted the goal of keeping grassroots volunteer teams intact while minimizing drastic changes for residents.

As Tampines Boulevard and East Coast GRC evolve, these adjustments signify a commitment to serving the community's needs better than ever. Stay tuned for more updates as these dynamic changes unfold!
