After four decades of being a cherished landmark at Canning Rise, the Registry of Marriages (ROM) and the Registry of Muslim Marriages (ROMM) are set to make a temporary leap to Esplanade Mall starting this April. This move marks a significant transition as the current location prepares for redevelopment from 2025 to 2028.

The Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) and the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) have announced that the newly redeveloped building at Canning Rise aims to better serve couples, not only as a venue for solemnisation but also as a supportive resource throughout their marriage journey. The new facility will boast modern and spacious environments tailored to contemporary needs.

Operations at the iconic Canning Rise site will conclude on April 11, 2024, and the ROM and ROMM will resume services at Level 3 of Esplanade Mall on April 14, taking over the area previously occupied by library@esplanade. It's essential for couples to note that in-person appointments and solemnisation services will be unavailable during the transition period on April 12 and 13. However, solemnisations held at external venues or through video links will continue without disruption.

Couples with existing bookings need not worry; all scheduled appointments from April 14 will automatically transfer to the interim setup at Esplanade Mall, and notifications will be sent to confirm these changes. For the latest updates during this transition, couples are encouraged to utilize the Our Marriage Journey (OMJ) portal.

The move to Canning Rise happened in August 1983, establishing itself as a vital hub for couples embarking on their marital journey.
