Emergency Response Activated After Fire at Kaki Bukit Industrial Building

SINGAPORE: A dramatic incident unfolded at the Synergy@KB industrial building in Kaki Bukit on Thursday, September 19, when a fire broke out, leaving two individuals unconscious. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) received an urgent call regarding the blaze at around 12:55 PM, prompting immediate action.

Upon their prompt arrival, firefighters discovered a unit on the fifth floor engulfed in flames and the entire floor suffocated with smoke. In a heroic effort, they located two unconscious individuals in a unit adjacent to the fire. SCDF’s emergency medical services swiftly administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and transported the victims to Changi General Hospital for urgent medical attention.

Witness accounts highlight the dangerous conditions faced by those inside the building. Mr. Jordan Alsagoff, who operates a carpentry factory on the sixth floor, informed the media that his employees reported hearing distressing shouts for help from the lower levels. “I heard from my workers who were taking a nap at the factory after lunch. They called me and said: 'Boss, there's smoke coming in from the window,’” Mr. Alsagoff recounted. Reacting quickly, he instructed his team to secure the premises by closing windows, turning off the power, and evacuating.

Fortunately, Mr. Alsagoff and his staff acted swiftly and managed to escape unharmed. The SCDF further reported that the fire was successfully extinguished using two water jets, preventing any further spread of the flames.

Authorities are now investigating the cause of the fire, which could have had disastrous consequences if not for the swift actions of the SCDF and the building's occupants. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of fire safety and preparedness in industrial environments.
