Eyewitness accounts, alongside a video that quickly spread on WhatsApp, captured harrowing scenes of thick black smoke that engulfed the 16-storey Block 665C in Tampines Street 64, reaching as high as the rooftop.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) received emergency calls around 6 PM and promptly dispatched personnel to the scene.
