A Grab driver faced an unexpected and frustrating ordeal when a passenger attempted to cancel their ride and then threatened him after he refused to comply.

On August 17, the driver, known as 'Angry Driver,' shared his experience with Stomp, detailing how the passenger had booked a separate ride on another platform and insisted that he cancel their booked trip. In a striking exchange, the driver informed the passenger that he wouldn’t incur any penalty for canceling within three minutes.

“When I told him I wouldn't cancel, he threatened to report me,” the driver recounted.

In a dramatic turn, a screenshot shared by the driver showed the passenger saying, "Don't come, I don't want to have a problem with you," after the driver confirmed he would pick him up.

The driver emphasized that passengers should maintain professionalism in their interactions. He added, "Riders shouldn’t book multiple rides across different platforms and cancel the most expensive one. This disrupts drivers’ routes and affects our livelihoods."

The driver took action by reporting the incident to Grab. In an official response shared with Stomp, Grab extended an apology for the situation, confirming that the offending passenger received a strike on their account.

Grab reassured that they prioritize the safety and comfort of their drivers and have measures in place to mitigate such troublesome encounters.

This incident raises concerns about rider behavior in the increasingly competitive ride-hailing industry and the impact of such actions on drivers' daily work.
