SINGAPORE – Amid personal and professional changes, veteran radio deejay Glenn Ong is navigating his post-divorce life with grace and ambition.

The 54-year-old host of "The Big Show With Glenn And Angel" on Kiss92 revealed in a recent interview with The Straits Times that he’s keeping a professional outlook after separating from fellow DJ Jean Danker.

Just before Christmas, Ong and Danker, 46, announced their split after eight years of marriage. Both are well-known figures in the Singapore radio scene.

Shortly after the announcement, Ong faced another change when his longtime co-host Mark van Cuylenburg, better known as The Flying Dutchman, transitioned to a new role at One FM 91.3.

Despite these shifts, Ong managed to snag the coveted Presenter of the Year award at the recent SPH Media awards—one of the many highlights of his career.

Reflecting on his divorce, Ong expressed a sense of sadness but emphasized that he and Danker remain amicable. "As sad as I feel about what has happened, we’re still on good terms," he shared, underscoring his desire for privacy regarding the details.

This marks Ong's third marriage; his previous wives—Jamie Yeo and the late Kate Reyes—were also in the broadcasting industry.

Currently, Ong isn’t looking to dive into another serious relationship. "I’ve never had time for myself, and I’ve never not been in a relationship," he admitted. Instead, he’s focusing on self-care, hitting the gym, and enjoying weekends away.

While he’s reluctant to discuss any new romantic interests, he does share some bittersweet feelings about his professional changes, particularly parting ways with FD, with whom he shared a close working relationship for years.

Ong noted that their professional split was not personal, stating, "I’m very comfortable working with him and think we had a great dynamic. But changes were necessary for the stations’ growth."

He expressed excitement about collaborating with Angelique Teo as they navigate new territories on their show, tackling important topics like sustainability, travel, and technology alongside their fan-favorite segment, "The Big Show TV."

In the past, Ong was often portrayed as a competitive and outspoken figure in radio; however, he’s committed to fostering unity in the industry now. "I want to bridge divides in Singapore's radio landscape and focus on collaboration. I’m evolving for the better," he stated.

Even though he and FD no longer co-host, the two friends still enjoy hanging out. Ong joked about their late-night outings, saying, "I always ask him to go out for drinks—just don’t tell the bosses!"

Looking ahead, Ong remains open to future collaborations with FD. "If the bosses call and say, ‘You’re back together again,’ I’m all in,” he affirmed.
