For our stroll, we explored the serene stretch that begins at the historic Upper Bukit Timah Truss Bridge and ends near the Hazel Park Open Space, covering a distance of about 2 kilometers—perfect for a light, enjoyable walk lasting around 30 minutes.

Karu's Indian Banana Leaf Restaurant is tucked away in a charming row of shophouses, and trust me, it’s worth every single step. The restaurant's charm lies not just in its setting but in its commitment to quality. Karu ensures that every element of their dishes—from the fresh coconut milk to the spices—is crafted with care. Director Supramaniyam shared, “We grind our spices ourselves and bring them from India, which makes a significant difference in flavor.”

One must-try dish is Karu’s Fish Head Curry, priced at S$27.50 for a small portion. Served in a traditional clay pot, this dish features a whole red snapper head swimming in a rich curry infused with a medley of spices and garlic. The combination of heat, acidity, and subtle sweetness makes it a standout, alongside generous additions of tomatoes, brinjal, and ladies’ finger. The meaty red snapper, with its flaky flesh and succulent cheeks, is perfect for soaking up that delectable curry.

Pair your meal with a traditional banana leaf set priced at S$4, which includes unlimited servings of fluffy rice, two veggie sides, and crispy papadum. Their aromatic biryani is an indulgent alternative, made from basmati rice enhanced with spices and ghee for an extra kick.
