Denmark's Prime Minister criticized this move, deeming it 'unacceptable pressure' on Greenland, which operates as a semi-autonomous territory under Danish rule.

However, the situation took a turn when the White House announced on March 25 that Mr. J.D. Vance would lead the delegation instead. The revised itinerary includes a visit solely to the US Space Base at Pituffik in northern Greenland, effectively averting potential diplomatic fallout associated with the originally planned cultural engagement.

Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen conveyed his approval of the changes, stating to broadcaster DR, 'I think it’s very positive that the Americans cancelled their visit to the Greenlandic society. Instead, they will visit their own base, Pituffik, and we have nothing against that.'
