The Danish Foreign Minister, Lars Lokke Rasmussen, firmly rejected remarks made by U.S. President Donald Trump about the potential annexation of Greenland, declaring on Friday, March 14, that the autonomous territory is not up for grabs by any nation.

According to Rasmussen, "If you look at the NATO treaty, the UN charter or international law, Greenland is not open to annexation." This robust response came after Trump suggested during a press conference that he believes the annexation of Greenland could be a possibility, stating, "I think it will happen."

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, present during the exchange, chose to remain neutral and did not comment on the issue.
