In a powerful showcase of strength, three remarkable women who have triumphed over cancer are set to walk the runway at the upcoming Fashion For Cancer charity event in Singapore on September 13, 2025. Their inspiring journeys reveal not only their battles with illness but also their enduring spirit as they redefine beauty.

From Struggles to Strength: Meet the Survivors

First, we have 26-year-old Chong Hui Min, who faced a devastating diagnosis of osteosarcoma, a rare and aggressive bone cancer. After undergoing multiple treatments and limb-saving surgeries, she's transformed her scars into a canvas of resilience, even decorating her leg with tattoos that reflect her journey.

Next is 38-year-old Faith Lim, a devoted mother whose life took a harsh turn when she was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer shortly after discovering she was pregnant. Her story encapsulates the struggle of a mother juggling chemotherapy while caring for her newborn, highlighting her remarkable strength with each challenge she faced.

Finally, we meet 49-year-old Chua Gek San, who battled acute myeloid leukaemia. Once a vibrant career mom, her life was put on hold as she overcame the hurdles of a blood cancer that left her in critical condition. Now, she emerges more vibrant than ever, embodying the resilience of a butterfly.

Embracing Scars and New Beginnings

All three women are cancer-free and eager to share their journeys. Chong has graduated, married, and stepped into a new role as a research assistant. Faith juggles her career as a financial advisor while raising her two daughters, and Chua is actively involving herself in volunteer work to aid those in need.

Yet, healing continues beyond remission. "We may survive, but we often forget to acknowledge our emotional scars," reflects Faith, shedding light on the inner battles many survivors face after medical treatments.

Redefining Beauty on the Runway

Despite feeling out of place in the high-pressure world of fashion, these women are set to redefine what it means to be beautiful. For Chong, the journey through cancer has given her clarity on life’s fragility and the importance of living fully. "It’s about the quality of life, not just existence," she says.

Faith echoes these sentiments, expressing her commitment to self-acceptance, stating, "I’ve conquered cancer, and that makes me beautiful in my own way." Chua describes her experience as transformative: "This is my emergence from a long-fought battle, akin to a butterfly breaking out of a cocoon."
