Exciting Times Ahead for Singapore's General Election!

SINGAPORE - Excitement is building as Singapore gears up for the highly anticipated General Election in 2025! From March 28, eligible voters can check their names in the updated voter rolls, which reflect the newly established electoral boundaries.

How to Check Your Voter Eligibility

To access the Registers of Electors, Singaporeans can conveniently visit the Elections Department (ELD) website and navigate to the “Voter Services” section. Alternatively, those with a Singpass can log in and view their information under “My Profile.”

Alternative Assistance Options

For individuals who prefer not to utilize online services, assistance is available at community centers, clubs, and ServiceSG centers. As a further option, the ELD encourages voters to schedule an appointment to visit their office online or by calling 1800-225-5353.

Recent Updates to Voter Rolls

Recent updates to the voter rolls involve the reallocation of polling districts based on the Electoral Boundaries Review Committee (EBRC) recommendations. On March 11, the EBRC released its report, signaling an imminent election as the law requires that the next general election be held by November 2025.

Provisions for Overseas Singaporeans

Singaporeans living abroad do not need to worry about missing out – the ELD has made provisions for them too. Those unable to verify their details online can visit any of the 10 Singapore overseas missions serving as registration centers, located in major cities like Beijing, London, and New York.

Restoration of Voter Names

Crucially, Singaporeans who might have had their names removed from the voter rolls due to non-participation in past elections can still petition for restoration. However, it’s essential to remember that names cannot be reinstated during the critical period from when the Writ of Election is issued until after Nomination Day, or beyond Polling Day if there is a contest.

Voting Registration for Overseas Citizens

Overseas citizens who are on the voter registers can register to vote either via postal services or in person at one of the 10 designated overseas polling locations. To be eligible, they must have spent at least 30 days in Singapore over a three-year period before their registration date.

Important Registration Notes

Registration remains open year-round, though applicants should note that processing will be paused starting three days after the Writ of Election is announced until post-Nomination Day or Polling Day, contingent on whether an election is contested.

Final Call to Action

The ELD strongly advises eligible overseas Singaporeans to register early if they wish to participate in the GE2025 from abroad. With mounting anticipation, it’s time for Singaporeans to ensure their voices are heard in this pivotal election!

Stay tuned for updates as the election nears, and ensure you’re ready to cast your vote!
