Imagine being locked out of your computer at work, desperately seeking tech support, only to find that everyone else is in line ahead of you. This frustrating scenario is all too common, and it’s exactly what fueled Andrei Serban's ambition to innovate the IT support landscape.
Having served as a product lead at Rippling, Serban understood the heavy burden of manual tasks that weigh down help desk staff. He identified a golden opportunity: why not harness AI to automate time-consuming responsibilities like password resets and troubleshooting?
From Concept to Reality: The Birth of Console
In pursuit of this vision, Serban founded Console after parting ways with Rippling. His mission? To liberate IT teams from the mundane grind of repetitive chores, allowing them to focus on higher-level strategic initiatives.
While automation in IT isn’t a new concept, Console stands apart from competitors like Moveworks—recently acquired by ServiceNow for a staggering $2.85 billion—due to its streamlined integration process. Thanks to a seamless connection with Slack, Console can deploy its AI assistant throughout an organization in just weeks, not months.
AI at Your Service: How Console Works
Serban views Console as an AI-powered colleague that enhances the capabilities of existing help desk teams. As organizations continue to digitize, he argues, the role of IT becomes even more critical.
With just a message on Slack, employees can access Console’s AI, which possesses deep knowledge about each user—such as their laptop type and application access rights. Impressively, this AI can autonomously resolve more than half of help desk requests, turning to human support only for the more complex issues.
Trusting the Process: Rapid Growth and Funding Success
This swift integration has garnered interest from major players, including Scale AI, Flock Safety, and Calendly. Their endorsements propelled Console to raise a remarkable $6.2 million in seed funding from Thrive Capital.
Vince Hankes, a partner at Thrive, noted that their investment aligns with a broader belief in AI’s power to streamline IT operations—a notion that was solidified following the launch of ChatGPT in late 2022. Hankes believes that while competitors may seem more replaceable, Console's technology will evolve rapidly, making it an integral part of any organization's infrastructure.
What’s Next for Console?
Looking ahead, Console aims to expand its capabilities beyond IT support, setting its sights on functions like HR, finance, and legal assistance.
"We want Console to be the first point of contact for employees seeking help," Serban states, outlining an ambitious vision for transforming internal support systems.
