COE Premiums Drop Across All Categories
In a surprising turn of events, Certificate of Entitlement (COE) premiums in Singapore dropped across all categories in the most recent bidding exercise conducted on January 22. Car enthusiasts and potential buyers are taking notice, as the market shows signs of adjusting to new supply dynamics.
Category A Vehicles
For buyers eyeing Category A vehicles—those with engine capacities of 1,600cc and below, and horsepower not exceeding 130bhp—premiums closed at S$93,601 (approximately US$69,069), down from S$93,699 in the previous round. This marks a small yet significant drop that may open doors for budget-conscious consumers.
Category B Premiums
Larger and more powerful vehicles in Category B also saw a reduction, with premiums falling to S$116,625 from S$121,501. This decrease may reflect changing consumer preferences and a potential shift towards more efficient and midsize vehicles.
Commercial Vehicle Trends
Commercial vehicle premiums took a downward turn as well, closing at S$65,476, a decrease from S$67,891. This could be indicative of a broader trend in the logistics and transportation sectors, where companies are reevaluating their fleet requirements.
Motorcycle Premiums
Motorcycle lovers aren’t left out of this trend either, with premiums dipping to S$7,709 from S$9,001. The reduction could encourage more individuals to consider two-wheeled transport options, especially with rising fuel prices and an increased emphasis on personal mobility solutions.
