This year’s theme, “Ushering Fortune and Unity for a Prosperous New Year” (福满人间迎新春，灯照万家庆团圆), highlights a collective aspiration for a joyful, harmonious, and prosperous year ahead. The excitement is palpable as the neighborhood prepares for an extravagant display of tradition and culture.

Unmissable Festivities and Decorations

Chinatown is renowned for its dazzling decorations during the Chinese New Year, and it promises to be even more enchanting this year. Key streets such as New Bridge Road, Eu Tong Sen Street, South Bridge Road, and Upper Cross Street will be adorned with striking lanterns and intricate decorations.

Spectators can anticipate the lively sounds of firecrackers echoing through the streets and illuminated trees draped with colourful lanterns, evoking a festive atmosphere. A majestic eight-meter-tall “Tree of Fortune” will stand proudly, symbolizing abundance, wealth, and renewal for the upcoming year—everyone is invited to take selfies around this iconic piece!

Ahead of the grand opening on January 8, notable figures discussed the importance of this beloved event. Minister Josephine Teo emphasized that the celebrations serve as a heartwarming tradition, uniting families and the broader community to embrace the New Year with joy and unity.

“The theme of fortune and unity is a powerful reminder of the bonds we share within our families and community as we anticipate a thriving year ahead,” she shared.

Adding to this enthusiasm, Ms. Lim Shoo Ling from the Singapore Tourism Board spoke about how the dazzling lights and local performances celebrate the rich cultural heritage enjoyed in Singapore.
